Dr. Noor Fitrah Abu Bakar is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. With a robust academic and professional background, she has significantly contributed to the fields of chemical, biomaterial and environmental engineering. She earned her PhD in Engineering from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) in Japan. She also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is currently the Deputy Director of Energy and Environment for Research Nexus of UiTM and had held various administrative positions such as Head of Research and Innovation for the School of Chemical Engineering, Deputy Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages, and Head of the Material Technology and Engineering (MaTE) Niche. Her research interests span nanomaterial synthesis and applications, electric forceassisted techniques such as electrospraying and electrospinning, and sensor and biosensor applications in various fields including food, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical engineering. She has made notable contributions to agricultural applications like seed coating and priming, and water treatment, especially in tackling microplastics and nanoplastics contamination. Her work also extends to the oil and gas industry, focusing on enhanced oil recovery using nanoparticles and particle processing technologies like fluidization and granulation. She has published more than 90 indexed articles including journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. She has successfully translated her research into a patented technology. Her research also has garnered international and national grants, including projects on nanoparticle colloids, electrophoretic deposition techniques, and advanced nanocomposites for various applications.
