Mohd Azlan Mohd Ishak received his BSc in Chemistry in 1993 and MSc in Analytical chemistry in 2001. In July 1995, he started lecturing in Institut Teknologi MARA, Perlis Branch before completing his PhD in 2007 specializing in supercritical fluid extraction. His research interests include energy and green technology, liquefaction and extraction technology, coal and biomass gasification technology, pyrolysis, and catalysis. To this day, he has successfully received more than 80 research grants, totalling in over RM5 million, from the government and private agencies. An avid writer, Dr. Azlan has also published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, more than 100 conference proceedings, 10 books, and 5 chapter-in-books. He has received more than 70 local and international research innovation awards for his contribution in the field. In 2015 and 2017, he was awarded the Outstanding Reviewer by Elsevier, and also the Top Reviewer award in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he received the Darjah Seri Sirajuddin Perlis Medal bestowed by the Royal Highness King of Perlis, Malaysia.In 2017, Dr. Azlan received the Vice Chancellor Quality Award and Academic Leadership Award from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis Branch. In 2011-2019, he served as a Deputy Rector of Research, Industry, Community and Alumni Network, and 2020-2024 as a Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs Division. At present, he is a professor of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at UiTM Perlis Branch, Malaysia.
